Althea Headlam joined Teaching Matters as a math consultant after 13 years of experience in the education field. She began her career as a NYC Teaching Fellow teaching first grade in Brooklyn. She also worked as her school’s assessment coordinator, where she supported teachers in analyzing and using data to improve student learning. Most recently, Althea served as an Assistant School Leader at a Brooklyn charter school. As a math consultant, Althea works with teachers on understanding math content, implementing effective pedagogical strategies for delivering instruction, and using assessments and data to improve and tailor instruction. Althea holds a BS in Communication from Boston University, and a MS in Education from Brooklyn College. She also holds certifications in Math Leadership and Educational Leadership.
