Ana Haggerty-Schultz

Ana Haggerty-Schultz is an Educational Consultant for Teaching Matters with an expertise in literacy and language acquisition instruction. In this role, she supports educators in developing the content knowledge and pedagogy to improve student literacy. Partnering with teachers and teacher teams to collaboratively analyze data and use formative assessment to drive instruction is also a critical component of her work. As a virtual coach, Ana supports Teacher Leaders in enhancing their leadership and instructional skill sets as they pursue formal teacher leadership positions.

Prior to joining Teaching Matters, Ana served as a teacher and instructional coach in both district and charter schools in the South Bronx. During this time, she participated in a pilot program with the NYC Department of Education’s Office of Teacher Effectiveness to demonstrate schools’ progress in implementing The Danielson Framework for Teaching, and gave feedback on the development of protocols for peer walkthroughs and feedback cycles. Most recently, she served as Director of English as a New Language Services across K-12 and as an Academic Dean. She is passionate about using data to inform early literacy practices, academic vocabulary instruction, and building the capacity of all teachers to integrate second language acquisition into core content. Ana obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government from Dartmouth College and Master of Science in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Fordham University Graduate School of Education.
