Lance Ozier

Lance has been a classroom teacher and literacy coach at the elementary, middle and secondary education levels. Prior to joining Teaching Matters, Lance was the Senior Literacy Specialist at the Institute for Student Achievement in the research division of the Educational Testing Service. His work at ISA included supporting teachers and school leaders with inquiry-based Common Core literacy curriculum and performance assessments, as well as leading a Carnegie Corporation of NY pilot program to include growth mindsets and non-cognitive skills in the academic core. Lance has also been a consultant for Stanford University’s Center for Assessment, Learning and Equity (SCALE).

Lance holds a BA in Elementary Education from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, a MA in Sociology and Education and an EdM and EdD in English Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.

While completing his doctoral studies, Lance was on the English Education faculty of Teachers College. Currently he is Assistant Adjunct Professor of English Education at The City College of New York, and a founding instructor in the Bank Street College of Education's Summer Camp and Afterschool Leadership Certificate.
