Ana Vargas

Ana Vargas (she/her/hers) is a Senior Educational Consultant for Teaching Matters with expertise in Elementary Literacy. In this role, Ana hopes to continue supporting and uplifting practices that empower teachers and embolden students during literacy instruction. Ana began her teaching experience as a New York City Teaching Fellow in the Bronx where she was hired by her childhood 5th grade teacher at her first placement. She credits this person for awakening a love of teaching at a young age and committed herself to serve students and communities in ways that were transparent and responsive. With a vision to create bridges between community and schools, Ana has transformed her role many times over from a classroom teacher, to ESL coordinator, reading teacher, Dean, and Principal. 

Ana earned his BS in Sociology from Fordham University, an MST from Pace  University and a Ed.M from Bank Street College of Education.  During her free time, she enjoys going on adventures with her family, friends and dog.
