Ava Marron is a proud New Jersey native who has worked in education in America and abroad for 19 years. She graduated from Washington University in St Louis with a Bachelor’s Degree in African and Middle Eastern History. Ava started her career as an occupational therapist assistant and that led her to pursue a Masters Degree in Special Education at Fordham University. She taught and coached special education humanities and math courses in Harlem and the Bronx for many years in her 20s. In 2016, Ava moved to Brooklyn to be a school leader in Canarsie.
Ava’s passion for travel and supporting youth in the Global South has brought her to 60+ countries. She has also consulted with school leaders and teachers in Kampala, Nairobi, Abu Dhabi, Hyderabad and London. Ava is currently pursuing an Advanced Professional Certificate in International Development and Education at New York University. Outside of work, she also enjoys zazen meditation, salsa dancing, training pitbulls, writing poetry and playing outside hitter on her queer volleyball league.
