Carolyn Narvaez

Carolyn Narvaez is a Senior Educational Consultant for Teaching Matters specializing in literacy instruction for kindergarten through 5th grade students.  Prior to Teaching Matters, Carolyn taught 1st grade in Rye, East Harlem, and on the southside of Chicago with additional experience teaching 5th grade in Detroit.  She served as Instructional Coach and Assistant Principal for schools in East Harlem and the Bronx. In these roles, Carolyn developed a passion and talent for coaching teachers, planning and executing effective professional development, and collaborating with school stakeholders to create joyful and rigorous learning environments inclusive of all students.

Carolyn graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. She earned a Master of Arts in Literacy Education from Northeastern Illinois University and holds an endorsement as a Reading Specialist. Outside of her work at Teaching Matters, Carolyn enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her husband, two young sons, and goldendoodle, Clark.  Carolyn can usually be found cooking, exercising, or reading a good book.
