Christopher Buonamia is a Senior Educational Consultant with Teaching Matters, bringing expertise in literacy, mathematics, curriculum design and instructional practice, especially for neurodiverse learner needs. For over twenty years, Chris has worked in New York City public, charter and independent schools as a teacher, learning specialist, staff developer and school leader. At Teaching Matters, Chris partners with schools to refine planning and instruction in order to improve student outcomes. Adept at synthesizing classroom observations and assessment data, Chris collaborates with teaching teams to support academic and social-emotional growth for all children. He brings a solutions-oriented and skills-based mindset to partnering with schools, and Chris knows that careful, intentional shifts often enable profound impact.
Chris earned a BA in Philosophy and Ancient Languages from the University of Minnesota, a MS in Teaching from Pace University and a M.Ed in Leadership, Teaching and Learning from Columbia University. Chris is also passionate about high-quality project-based learning, and presents at national conferences in support of PBL practice. In his personal life, Chris explores regenerative agriculture and sustainable-energy engineering.
