Dr. Delsonya Smallwood

Dr. Delsonya Smallwood is an educational consultant for Teaching Matters with a focus

in early childhood. She is deeply committed to early childhood and believes it is the

foundation of academic learning. She is passionate about empowering parents with the

skills and knowledge to nurture their children’s development. With a focus on fostering

strong foundations in the early years. She also strives to support fellow educators in

refining their teaching practices to better serve young learners. Through collaboration

and a commitment to lifelong learning. She aims to positively impact both families and

the educational community.

Dr. Smallwood is a retired elementary educator with over 30 years of teaching

experience. She holds a BS in American Studies from SUNY College @ Old Westbury,

a MS in Elementary Education from The City College of New York and an Ed. D. from

St. John’s University in Educational Leadership.
