Halima Lugent is a Senior Educational Consultant for Teaching Matters. She comes to this position with over fifteen years of experience in urban education as a teacher, curriculum writer, and instructional coach. Rooted in the mission of empowering others, she uses an assets-based approach to collaborate with educators in strategically leading their students to social-emotional and academic wellness. With expertise in literacy for grades 3-8, Halima helps educators hone their craft in data analysis, inclusive and culturally relevant instruction, differentiation, and curriculum development. As a California native, she enjoys holistic endeavors and applies evidence-based practices from the world’s wisdom traditions to her daily life. She holds degrees from California State University, Long Beach, and Pace University.
