Heidi Donohue

Heidi Donohue is an Associate Director of Programs. In this role she leads a team of consultants to support instructional leads, teachers, and school leaders as they foster learning environments where all students learn at high levels. Prior to this role, Heidi was a Senior Educational Consultant for Teaching Matters with an expertise in elementary literacy, inclusive education, and data-driven instruction. Heidi was also a foundational member of the Early Reading Matters program. In this role, she supported educators in developing their literacy practices to be more effective, responsive, and purposeful in order to dramatically improve student’s reading and writing proficiency in grades K through 3. Heidi also trained teacher leaders and school-based coaches to run highly effective teams.

Prior to joining Teaching Matters, Heidi was an instructional leader and founding member of a charter school in central Brooklyn. During her tenure there, she directed the Special Education program and the Lower Elementary school. Before that, she taught at both traditional district and independent schools in a variety of Special and General Education settings. Heidi holds a B.A. in Anthropology from Wheaton College and a Masters in Childhood Special Education from Hunter College.
