Jeffrey Kitrosser

Jeff Kitrosser is Associate Director of Research & Evaluation for Teaching Matters. In this capacity, he supports Teaching Matters in the development and execution of its research strategy in order to understand the formative and summative impacts of its programming. Jeff started his career in education as a middle school and high school math teacher through the NYC Teaching Fellows. From 2014 to 2022, Jeff then worked in a variety of capacities in the Division of Early Childhood Education (DECE) within the NYC Department of Education to universalize pre-Kindergarten in New York City, including on the development of the DECE’s coaching, professional learning and mental health consultation models for supporting pre-K leaders and teachers throughout NYC. In his most recent role at the DECE, Jeff served as Research Director, where he managed multiple implementation studies and randomized control trials with university partners to understand the impacts of the DECE’s supports on children, families and teachers. Jeff is passionate about conducting research and analysis that directly impacts education policy and programming, with particular interest in measuring and understanding disparities, and in implementing evidence-based solutions to reduce them. Jeff holds an AB in History from Princeton University, and a Master in Public Policy from The Goldman School at U.C., Berkeley.
