Jennifer Davoli Jang is an Educational Consultant for Teaching Matters with expertise in assessment, UBD, student-centered learning, and support for multilingual and neurodiverse learners in MS & HS ELA and Social Studies classrooms. She has dedicated her career to creating more equitable classrooms and school communities that affirm the cultural, racial, and linguistic identities of all youth. With over 19 years of experience as a teacher, teacher-leader, and educational coach, Jennifer supports educators in connecting new learning to students’ prior knowledge and experiences. Her teaching and coaching leverages student strengths in order to raise engagement and academic achievement.
Jennifer began her teaching career as a Spanish HS bilingual history teacher, in Washington Heights. Later, she taught Humanities in Brooklyn and in the South Bronx, at a portfolio-based high school. She acted as a team-leader, a teacher-coach, and a mentor-teacher in each of these schools. She facilitates learning in the classroom that empowers students to be leaders and social change actors in their own communities. Jennifer taught abroad in Uruguay, Brazil, and Vietnam during the course of her teaching career. For the past 10 years, she has been coaching teachers for the Urban Teachers Residency Programs at Rutgers, New Visions for Public Schools and Teaching Matters.
Jennifer completed her MA in Bilingual & Bicultural Education at Columbia University’s Teachers College and her undergraduate BA in Political Science & Human Services at SUNY Binghamton.
