Joan Leslie is the Associate Director for Institutional and Corporate Giving at Teaching Matters. Most recently, Joan served as the Go Red for Women Director at the American Heart Association, where she led the fundraising and volunteer engagement efforts to support research related to women’s heart health. During her 11 year career, Joan launched a consulting practice in professionally developing nonprofit leaders and their Boards of Directors to develop sustainable funding strategies through corporate and philanthropic investments.

Joan began her fundraising development career as a community organizer in Jacksonville, FL in 2012. In 2016, she relocated to Atlanta, GA, where her fundraising career continued with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. As a development professional and nonprofit advocate, Joan has served as a charitable events planner, presentation coach and grant writer. Ms. Leslie holds a Bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College and has a certification in Community Engagement & Mobilization from the Direct Action Research & Training (DART) Institute.
