Justin Gill is an Educational Consultant at Teaching Matters who specializes in Science. He brings over a decade of experience in education in roles both in the classroom and as a school leader and instructional coach. His approach brings a passion for science combined with research based education practices to help schools and teachers create student centered learning that is equally rigorous and engaging.
Justin began his career in education through Teach for America where he honed his skills in NGSS aligned curriculum design, student centered learning, and data analysis. After gaining some classroom experience, he soon found a new passion for supporting teachers as an instructional coach. He developed personalized goals and growth plans for a wide variety of individual teachers to foster student success through differentiated instruction, math and literacy support systems, and cohesive unit planning with a phenomenon based structure. As a department leader, Justin also designed and led a literacy in science initiative that resulted in increased scores in nonfiction reading comprehension. He loves using his passion and experience to help teachers create classrooms rich with critical thinking and wonder.
Justin has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Allegheny College, a Master of Science in Molecular Biology & Biochemistry from Binghamton University, and completed a teaching certification program from Loyola Marymount University. Outside of work he enjoys exploring the city with his wife and son, playing video games, and cheering on the New York Giants.
