Senior Educational Consultant
She/her/ hers

Kara D. Singleton is an educator, leader, and change agent with more than a decade of experience leading instructional excellence, organizational growth, and school transformation in urban education. Throughout her career, she has worked at the intersection of academic strategy, leadership development, literacy, and school culture—building systems that create stronger learning environments for students and stronger teams for educators.

Kara is deeply passionate about the power of books and literacy to expand how young people see themselves, understand the world, and imagine what is possible for their futures. She believes that closing the opportunity gap requires more than improving academic outcomes; it requires creating schools where students feel known, valued, challenged, and empowered to thrive. Her work has focused on developing strong instructional systems, strengthening school culture, supporting educators and leaders, and using data and strategy to drive meaningful improvement.

A graduate of Howard University and Columbia University’s Teachers College, Kara brings a deep commitment to equity, culturally responsive education, restorative practices, and the belief that every student deserves access to excellent teaching, affirming environments, and opportunities that expand their sense of possibility. She is especially passionate about developing leaders, strengthening communities, and creating the conditions for students and adults to flourish.
