Kelly Lagoumis

Kelly Lagoumis is a Senior Educational Consultant at Teachers Matters, specializing in ELA instruction. Kelly holds Bachelor’s Degrees in Child Study and in Psychology from St. Joseph’s University and a Master’s Degree in Literacy from Teachers College, Columbia University. She is a certified General Education Teacher, Special Education Teacher, and Literacy Specialist.

Before becoming a Literacy Coach, Kelly was a teacher in the New York City Department of Education. Kelly was a mentor to new teachers and an active member of her school’s Professional Learning Committee, Equity Committee, and MoSL Committee. Prior to teaching in the DOE, Kelly was a 2014 Corps Member with Teach for America, and taught both General and Special Education in Eastern North Carolina.

Over the last few years, Kelly has been supporting schools in implementing research-based shifts to their literacy practice to improve outcomes for students. Kelly believes that teachers are a school’s strongest asset in achieving educational equity, and is committed to support teacher and student learning, alike!
