Maggie Phenicie is a Senior Educational Consultant with Teaching Matters, with expertise in middle school English and differentiation for all learners. Prior to joining Teaching Matters, Maggie served as an instructional coach and taught middle school English for 11 years in Baltimore City Schools, where she was named a semifinalist for Baltimore City Teacher of the Year in 2023. She served as department chair, team lead, and gifted learning liaison, leading her school to twice be awarded a statewide recognition for excellence in gifted and talented education.
She has extensive experience coaching English teachers, especially middle school, and helped raise her school’s overall English test scores. As a coach, she tailors coaching to individual needs and experience levels, meets teachers where they are, and connects using humor and relationships. Maggie holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Franklin & Marshall College and a master’s degree in secondary education from Johns Hopkins University.
