Meet Maulana Drew, an accomplished instructional coach dedicated to empowering educators and fostering student success. With 18 years of experience in education and expertise in ELA/Social Studies instruction for grades 1-5, Maulana is committed to helping teachers develop culturally competent and effective instructional practices.
She earned a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Literary, Visual, and Media Arts from City College. Throughout her career, Maulana has worked in 5 countries and multiple states gaining valuable insights into the diverse needs of students across languages and abilities. Maulana has served students directly as an reading interventionist, lead classroom teacher, and academic dean.
In her work as a coach, Maulana aims to empower educators and school leaders with innovative, tailored support that incorporates research and evidence-based practices which in turn enhances student engagement and promotes academic success. Her coaching style can be characterized as purposeful and solutions-oriented. Maulana’s particular areas of strength include Science of Reading, curriculum/intervention implementation, horizontal and vertical alignment, classroom management, and school building leader development.
She believes in the transformative power of education and is dedicated to equipping schools with the tools they need to make a lasting impact in their student’s lives. In her free time, Maulana enjoys reading, cooking, and baking.
