Ruben Abrahams Brosbe is a Brooklyn-based educator and writer. He provides coaching and facilitation on topics including equitable math instruction, racial equity in schools, and restorative practices. He has supported teachers in Cleveland, New York City and across Massachusetts with the implementation of High-Quality Instructional Materials.
Ruben began working in NYC public schools in 2007 as a Cohort 14 Teaching Fellow. He has a masters from Fordham University in childhood education, and in education policy and management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Ruben was a Big Apple Awards Finalist in 2018. He completed the city’s Algebra 4 All training in 2018–2019.
As an educator, Ruben believes in the power of culturally relevant, project-based learning. One of his favorite math teaching memories from teaching was a classroom potluck which challenged his 5th graders to use multiplication of fractions to scale up recipes in order to feed their classmates and families.
