Tighisti Amahazion

Tighisti Amahazion is a Senior Educational Consultant with nearly 14 years of experience across New York City schools where she has served in a variety of network and school-based leadership roles. She drives academic achievement for all students across general and special education with a speciality in designing high-leverage coaching interventions that are evidence-based to support teachers, students and school communities. Tighisti is an expert on culturally relevant pedagogical practices that honor student identities while building rigorous analytical and critical thinking skills in reading, writing, and discourse.  She also specializes in the neuroscience of learning with over 3 years of experience in Developmental Neuroscience research at Columbia University. 

Tighisti’s approach focuses on the role of teachers as human-developers, thereby centering the whole-child experience through strategic questioning, data-informed decision-making, and differentiated support that maintains cognitive rigor while building nurturing relationships that foster belonging. Tighisti believes that education is the highest form of liberation and that every student deserves the opportunity for self-efficacy.
