Teaching Matters is proud to celebrate our CEO, Dr. Carolyne Quintana, on being named one of City & State New York’s 2026 Latino Trailblazers.
A lifelong educator and system leader, Dr. Quintana has spent more than two decades working to expand access to high-quality learning experiences for students. Her career has taken her from the classroom and school leadership in the Bronx to serving as Deputy Chancellor of Teaching and Learning for NYC Public Schools. There, she launched NYC Reads, expanded bilingual education and autism spectrum programs, and created the nation’s first K–12 AI Policy Lab to guide the responsible and equitable use of AI in schools.
Now at the helm of Teaching Matters since 2025, Dr. Quintana continues that commitment by investing in excellent teaching and helping educators and school systems create the conditions for every student to thrive.

That belief has been a throughline throughout her career and continues to shape her leadership at Teaching Matters today.
Grounded in her own experiences as a Latina and former Bronx teacher, Dr. Quintana brings both her personal experience and her rich experience in education to the work of creating better opportunities for young people.
