She/Her

Meghann McDonald is a Senior Educational Consultant at Teaching Matters, specializing in elementary education, reading, writing and phonics best practices and creating engaging, hands-on professional development experiences.

Prior to joining Teaching Matters, Meghann began her teaching career just south of Seattle, Washington, in Highline Public Schools. During her fifteen-year career in Washington, she transitioned from being a lead third-grade teacher to an elementary literacy coach and later assumed the role of a lead district literacy specialist. Meghann then moved to New York City to work for Teachers College at Columbia University. While working as a Staff Developer at Teachers College Reading and Writing Project, she designed and delivered professional development to schools across the country, regularly supporting schools in the New York City area. She has experience coaching individuals, designing literacy and phonics curricula, leading professional development, and implementing culturally responsive teaching strategies.

Meghann’s dedication to education on both coasts has fueled her passion for supporting diverse learners, coaching and mentoring teachers, and assisting schools in reaching their school and district goals.

Meghann holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from Washington State University and a Master’s in Teaching from Central Washington University.

Meghann lives in Queens with her husband and cat, Banksy. In addition to her passion as an educator, Meghann enjoys meeting with her weekly book club and visiting museums during her travels.
