ELA (3-8)

An outcome-driven professional learning service for teachers of grades 3-8. Teaching Matters supports educators in developing the equitable mindset, content knowledge, and instructional expertise necessary to improve student literacy.

Teachers will

Develop the skills to implement engaging, rigorous, and coherent curriculum.

Implement curricula-aligned assessment practices to inform their instruction.

Students will

Improve their learning as measured by common assessments

Exhibit increased engagement in class, have the tools and space to engage in difficult conversations, and take actions in their community

Literacy Matters

  • 10 or more professional development days with a highly qualified literacy coach. These sessions are customized to meet the needs of your school or district.
  • Needs assessment with an aligned action plan.
  • Impact report with student and teacher artifacts and recommended next steps.

Teaching Matters’ programs and services are aligned and support high quality ELA (3-8) curriculum.

Delivering Strong Literacy Gains

Teachers who participated in Literacy Matters saw a 12% increase on students on grade level between the fall and spring according to iReady results (n=1,254 non-chronically absent students from 16 schools).
